"SLYON" IS STILL ON THE BALL
Slyon, a.k.a Patrick Sylvester Hilliman, was born on May 11, 1956 in the village of Den Amstel, West Coast, Demerara in Guyana, South America. Very early in his life, relatives and friends discovered that he had possessed the talent to sing. Later, as an early teen, he made appearances on local village programs where he proved himself as a singer. Subsequently, he traveled the country the country with his band "The Romantics".
In 1976, "Slyon", then still known as Patrick, immigrated to St. Marten. There, as a gospel singer, he moved audiences in St. Marten and around the Caribbean. "Slyon" recorded his first album in the eighties entitled "We Are Chosen". Several hits emerged from that project, which also won six awards locally, also the prestigious "Rose of Sharon" International Award of Curacao. As a result, he was featured on the “Christmas Showcase”, a two-hour musical, recorded in New York and aired on Fox channels around the United States.
In 1997, "Slyon" arranged and played the music for the National Anthem of the Netherlands Antilles. The lyrics were written and sung by Zahira Hilliman, his daughter. "Slyon’s" new Cd was released on October 26th, 2001 in Brooklyn, New York at the Woodbine Ballroom to a jolly crowd of over 200 people, at which point he received a contract to perform in Las Vegas at the “Paris”. Before that, he entertained Bill Clinton at Mandeley Bay. He also had a trip to St. Marten, where he did several performances on both sides of the island.
"Slyon" believes that the world needs love, unity, and understanding. These have been strangled throughout the ages. With his songs, he wishes to reinforce the efforts of Bob Marley, Third World, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder and many others who propagate love around the world. Stay tuned for more on this artist.
